Rebate Fulfillment
I hate dealing with rebate fulfillment. When I buy something, I look for the instant rebates. For me, it’s a chore to fill out all the forms, mail out the receipt, meet the deadline, then get hosed for the rebate on a technicality? No way! I had enough nightmare experiences attempting to get my rebates long ago! This should not be a deterant if you want to save max cash.
So, if you decide to use a mail-in or online rebate make sure:
• You read and understand all the requirements before buying the item
• You send the required information before the deadline. If the rebate house says your missing something, you may have time to get them what they need
• You keep a close eye on your mail. Rebate checks typically look like junk mail so be careful not to chunk your rebate check or card
• You keep copies of everything
Remember: If you think the rebate fulfillment house or the company offering the rebate is holding out on you (and you actually think the rebate amount is enough for your trouble) file a complaint with your attorney general. Or, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission.
